About the Municipal Court
The Hamilton Municipal Court hears Class C misdemeanor cases that occur within the City of Hamilton. These cases include traffic offenses, city ordinance violations, and other fine-only criminal matters. The Municipal Court Judge presides over trials and hearings, assesses fines as permitted by law, issues arrest and search warrants, administers magistrate warnings, and performs other duties required by Texas law.
Contacting the Court
Court staff are available to assist you in person at City Hall or by phone. If staff are assisting other customers and cannot answer your call, please leave a message with your name, citation number (if available), and a call-back number. Your call will be returned as soon as possible.
If You Received a Citation
If you received a citation from the Hamilton Municipal Court, please do not ignore it. A failure to respond may result in additional fees or other consequences as allowed by law.
- Check your due date. Your appearance or payment due date is shown on your citation.
- Review your options. You may have options such as paying the citation, requesting a court date, or asking about other alternatives allowed by law.
- Contact the Court with questions. If you are unsure what to do, please contact the Court before your due date.
What To Do About Your Citation
Paying a citation online is generally treated as a plea of guilty or no contest and may result in a conviction being reported as allowed by law. If you want to discuss options that might be available in your case, please contact the Court before making an online payment.
Important: This online payment system is only for citations filed with the Hamilton Municipal Court (City of Hamilton).
If your citation was an offense outside the Hamilton city limits, it is handled by the Justice Court of Hamilton County. Those citations are accompanied by a blue payment/information form. Please follow the instructions on that blue form and pay the Justice Court of Hamilton County, not the City’s online system.

Cardholder name: For the initial payment, the name on the credit or debit card must match the name on the citation.
Juvenile Cases
State law requires juveniles (under 17 years of age) to appear in open court with a parent or legal guardian for most Class C misdemeanor cases. Do not pay a juvenile citation online unless you have been specifically instructed to do so by the Court.
Language and Accessibility Assistance
If you need an interpreter, disability accommodation, or other assistance to participate in court, please contact the Court as soon as possible before your scheduled date so that arrangements can be considered.

You may be eligible to request a driver safety course for certain traffic offenses if you meet the requirements under Texas law and make your request by the deadline. Driver safety course is not available for all offenses or all drivers. Contact the Municipal Court before your due date to ask about eligibility and how to make a request.
- What is deferred disposition?

Deferred disposition is a type of probation that may be available for some citations. If the Judge grants deferred disposition and you satisfy the terms set by the Court, your case may be dismissed as allowed by law. Deferred disposition is not available in every case. To see if this might be an option for you, contact the Municipal Court before your due date.
